Phonics:
We worked on digraphs this week; ch, sh, and th (think-math-bath) We are learning to recognize these in books that we read and words that we write.

Reading:
We are working on sound power. Making sure that our word looks right, sounds right, and matches the letters. We are also practicing ending sounds -ing, -s, and twin consonants.

Read to Self: We read books at our independent reading level, working on fluency.
Seat Work: We worked on consonant blends. Matching a blend to the picture. Sp goes with a spider, br goes with brush, etc. We then had to draw and label each blend.
Listening: Listened to stories.
Teacher Table: We read leveled books: worked on consonant clusters, sneaky e words, and clusters. We are also working on fluency and not reading so robotic.
(1) Word Work: Sight Word: magnetic writing and write it
(2) Word Work: Long Vowel and Short Vowel i sort (hill, lip) (bike, tiger)

Math:
We are working on subtraction; we know that subtraction means to take away. We are learning about the minus sign and the placement of numbers in a subtraction sentence. (First number: how many items we have all together, Second number: what we are taking away, and the Final/Last number: how many we have left.) 6-4=2. We are also learning about the missing # and how to find it. 6- =2. (draw it out)

Writing:
We are going to move on to Persuasive writing. We will have to think of changes we want to make in our school/home, how are we going to make that happen, and give reasons why and how.

Science: We reviewed forces of motion this week!

You can make a Valentine's box if you choose to, but you don't have to. You can simply bring in a bag. The kids at the end of the day will be able to pass out Valentine's. I ask that you only write your child's name on the from line.
