Mrs. Leuthauser's Lemurs

Phonics:

We worked on ending sounds, word families (_at,_et,_it,_ot,_ut), and blending words. (CVC) Ex: cat, sit, hop * Reading:

We are reading Non-Fiction Stories/Winter Stories Read to Self: We read books that we could start sounding out 3 letter words and then found at,et,it,ot, and ut ending words and placing them in our parking lot. Seat Work: CVC Words: Look at the picture card, match the word, then write the word and draw the pic. Listening: Listened to stories Teacher Table: We read leveled books: discussed sw we found in book, and different words beginning and ending sounds. Filled out a page of their favorite part from the story. Word Work: Sight Words: drew a sw card, built it with letter beads, then wrote it 3x's each * Math: We have been working on addition. Our focus this week was missing numbers and using our magic wand to change addition sentences. (ex: 6+4=10/ 4+6=10) *

Writing:

We are still learning about nonfiction stories. We know that nonfiction stories can help us learn about a certain topic, we know that it is not our opinion. We are finishing our own piece today on dogs. We made a web of different things we know about dogs. They are constructing their own sentences. Our focus is learning to write a sentence we have in our head down and making our pictures match. * Science: We are discussing the different animal categories: fish, mammals, amphibians, birds, and reptiles (all vertebrates) and invertebrates (Ex: starfish, bugs). We know about animals structures and the environments they live in. *

You can make a Valentine's box if you choose to, but you don't have to. You can simply bring in a bag. The kids at the end of the day will be able to pass out Valentine's. I ask that you only write your child's name on the from line.
Ex: To:  (Leave blank)
      From: (your child's name)
      To:
      From: Desi
That way they are able to walk around the room and drop a card in everyone's box and bag. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions just let me know.
